You get in love with Florence as you lose yourself in its streets

Watch out! Attento! If you set a foot in this wonderful Italian city, it will cost you remembering it forever as you leave it behind. It is beautiful, fantastic and so medieval - if you like this kind of cities, Florence is the adequate for you -.

The truth is that Italy is full of history everywhere, so that Florence and the Medici family were one of the key points in Italian history. For this and other things you have to visit it. You can smeel the history out from the streets yet, and you will want to miss yourself there constantly.

The part of the old town is highly recommended, all full of the typical ‘Roman road’ and cathedrals everywhere. It is important to go off season, not in summer for example as the streets are crammed with people, and so you can enjoy the city at its best: the ‘Piazza del Duomo’ (the concentric part of the city) with the Cathedral, the Baptistery and the Campanile, the most famous arquitechtures of the city; ‘Piazza della Signoria’ is the most lively zone and is not recommend to be missed, such as the ‘Ponte Vecchio’, full of romance and unmissable.

Once in the new town, the modern part of the city, you cannot leave without visiting the Medici gardens, and of course the 'David' of Michelangello. I recommend you all of that, fellow travelers, and of course do not forget to visit Italy at its best.

    1. The way you have structured this piece is excellent, you can tell that you know how to write.

However, there are quite a few changes you should make, because what you have written is hard to understand:

Florence is the adequate for you

    2. When I saw Florence for the first time, my opinion coincided with yours. For me Florence was the most beautiful city in the world. It was so lovely with its medieval and Renaissance monuments! The Florentines were very friendly and the food was very good.
But the second time I went to Florence I found it so crowded and noisy, so contaminated with infernal traffic as I thought I was in another city. It was quite disappointing.

  2. MADRID WILL BEWITCHED YOU!
Madrid is one of the most interesting European towns. If you have a few days of holidays, why not visiting Madrid? You’ll not be disappointed at all.
If you are an art lover, you can have an art walk along the Paseo del Prado, where you’ll find the Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and the Reina Sofía Museum, as well as other institutions or buildings well worth visiting. Nowadays there are some not missing exhibitions: The Abelló Collection in the CentroCentro, in the Town Hall building, in Cibeles Square. This is one of the best private art collection in the world. In the Prado, you can see The Greco and Modern Painting. It shows some paintings by The Greco compared with some contemporary paintings whose painters have been inspired by them. The Reina Sofía is the Nactional Art Contemporary Museum. There you can see paintings and sculptures by Picasso, Dalí, Juan Gris, and many other contemporary artists.
The Royal Palace is one of the buildings you don’t might miss. It was the residence of Bourbons Spanish Kings from eighteenth century until the proclamation of the II Republic in 1931. Nowadays it is only used for official receptions. At present you can visit there the exhibition Portraits in the Royal Collections, an historical and pictorial journey that shows Spanish monarchs and their portrait artists from the fifteenth to the twenty-first centuries. The most touching is perhaps the portrait of King Juan Carlos I and his family by Antonio López who has been painting this canvas during twenty years and it is exhibit now for the first time.
Near the Royal Palace you can visit the Medieval Madrid, Magerit, the Hapsburg Madrid and the Bourbon Madrid. There are many interesting baroque churches and other temples with Goya’s and Bayeu’s frescoes. The Plaza Mayor is an ancient square where they used to celebrate bullfightings as well as autos-da-fe. Nowadays you can take a rest in a terrace and don’t take a relaxing cup of café con leche, but a bier and the traditional squid baguette.
Food and drink are one of the best attractions in Madrid. You don’t might miss taste cocido madrileño, a kind of stewed chickpeas, meats and vegetables, or traditional sweets like torrijas, or, if you prefer, you can visit one of the gourmet food markets, where you can see where locals do their weekly shopping and meet friends for a drink and eat tapas. Or, if you can afford it, you can have a dinner in one of the Michelin-starred restaurants in Madrid.
Madrid has an animated nightlife. You can choose among several zones of the city: The Literary quarter, Malasaña quarter, where took place the movida in the 80’, Chueca, the quarter preferred by gay people, the multi-ethnic quarter of Lavapiés. Or perhaps you prefer to see a spectacle in a flamenco Tablao.
If you are fond of Parks and Gardens you need to go for a walk in the Casa de Campo, El Retiro Park, the Royal Botanic Garden or Madrid Río which are Madrid’s best known green areas, but almost every neighbourhood in the city has its own park.
And last but not least, don’t forget shopping. You’ll not be disappointed with Spanish fashion.

    4. OK, you need to check your use of modals. Try this:

      http://www.englishpage.com/modals/modalintro.html

Also you don't need to use a perfect tense if you are simple referring to something completed in the past. Use a simple tense.

And we say the Eighties. Always plural

  3. I agree with Thomas that Florence is a city that will catch you. Above its great cathedral, whose facade will be impossible to forget. It is a Neo-Gothic facade in white, green and pink marbles that have been painstakingly carved to create a kind of lace with reliefs that your eyes will never forget.

    1. Thanks for commenting Jennifer! :D I'm glad that you loved my post as much as Florence. Of course, the Cathedral is marvellous... its reliefs are one more part of the Italian history, so they help to understand how the life was at that time.

  4. Istanbul, the unforgettable city of the byzantine empire.

The Hagia Sophia, Ayasofya in turkish language, the cradle of the byzantine culture and the eight wonder of the world. Many visitors of the city meet around this outstanding monument every day. Considered the main symbol of the early byzantine period, at present has become one of the most important museums around the world. Nevertheless, Istanbul is more than this.

The city is really an amazing huge place that will astonish you every time you step on the road. Having been in the Grand Bazaar, you couldn't never forget the experience. In there you can buy the famous turquoises, however the big part of the market is currently full of shops of gifts from the city. Once out of there, walking around Istanbul, you realise of the magnificent people you can find. They are glad to show tourists how beautiful their city is, but you should pay attention to your belongings, thefts are very commons.

It's time to talk about the real essence of Istanbul, its ancient culture. First of all you must take a whole day to visit Ephesus, the roman city's archeologic ruins of the first Turkey, where it's difficult to walk without finding part of mosaics that have not been dug. Secondly, It's important to visit Mevlana's mausoleum in which they are buried the main people for the country, even, with a hair of Mahoma's beard like a relic. Finally, in the capital, the green and blue mosques, furthermore, the Hagia Sophia should be the next stop for your travel, but not the last one, that the Basilica cistern is quite interesting too in where you can learn roman mithology.

By the time you return home you'll miss everything of there, and I can say this because I'm pretty sure I'll hardly forget Istanbul. I miss its streets, its nights with the dervishes' dances, its people and its food, so it was the first time that I ate a real kebab. I would like to see again its bridges, full of colourful lights at night and I'd like to drink an apple tea in the center of the city again.

    Istanbul, we are seeing soon.

  5. Firenze, la bella Firenze! I've never been in Florence, but is one place I'd like to visit. Personally, I think that after Rome, this city is too much important to understand an age, thanks to the Brunelleschi architecture and Uffizi gallery. It should be a city that leaves you breathless.

  6. What could I say to an 'History of Art' student about Florence? Nothing. Travelling with you to such places must be grateful, because if in Italy you get impregnated by yourself with the arquitechtures and the history, I can't imagine it with a person that knows so much about art :D Thanks for commenting, Carmen.
